2013 Concert in Review
It had been thirty years since the band played together and, for some members of the band, that long since they have even talked to each other.
The Angelus Oaks Lodge was celebrating the re-grand opening of their Lodge. The Band was already planning to reunite at the cabin of the lead guitarist and...well one thing led to anther. The two events merged the reunion was awesome, playing together again was a blast.

Saturday to stake out their spots. They strategically placed chairs for the 7PM show. The town was abuzz with excitement. Some were calling it the event of the summer for Angelus Oaks. The band took the stage at 7:05PM and opened the show the same way they opened shows 30 years ago - with Honkey Tonk Woman by the Rolling Stones. Early
Warning rocked the crowd with more Rolling Stones classics like, Jumping Jack Flash, Brown Sugar, Just My Imagination, and You Can't Always Get What You Want; just to name a few. And for those senior citizens in the crowd Early Warning treated them to vintage songs like Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presely and Johnny B Good by Chuck Berry. A few groups of fans cleared a small area to dance to their favorite songs.
The band even had some special guests to join them with a few songs. James,
the son of lead guitarist Chris ("Flash,") Ebiner, played guitar on "Like a Rolling Stone." Mike D'Imperio's friend, "Skip," played the harmonica on Sweet Virginia by the Rolling Stones.
The crowd was so into the concert that they called for a drum solo…twice…during
the night. This was unprecedented in the band's history (and the drummer's too!). After the show the band gave away shirts made by family of some band members. Hannah Gilb (daughter of guitarist Matt) made shirts that read (on the back) Early Warning 30 Year Reunion Tour and on the front it reads, "Yes, I was there…" (Pretty cool!)

Band members, Chris, Rich, Matt and Mike were on hand to setup the P.A.,
lighting while the remaining band member, Vince, was attending his daughters graduation ceremony from the Nursing program at Concordia University, Irvine, CA. He rolled into town for the sound check around 6PM. Once Rich and Chris were satisfied with sound, the band was ready to rock! Angelus Oaks managers, Charlie and Sonnie. The husband and wife team did a wonderful job of making everyone feel welcome. They are modeling the Early Warning Reunion Tour T-shirts.
They also played the Eagles' Already Gone and Freebird by Lynard Skynard. The band showed its versatility by doing such classics as All Along the Watch Tower and Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan; The Weight by "The Band" as well as soft and tender songs like Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton.
Katlyn, 11 year
daughter of bassist, Rich Bennett, did vocals on an Elvis song, "Hound Dog." Mrs. D’Imperio made
shirts picturing a train appearing from a tunnel. On the train are names of the band members and various song titles. Many fans ask band members sign the shirts; another first in the band's history. |
All in all it was a fun evening filled with family, friends and fellow
cabin owners. The concert wrapped up around 10:15PM and there is already talk of
"next year."
